جيل بيت

جيل بيت Beat Generation، هي حركة أدبية بدأتها مجموعة من المؤلفين الذين أثروا بأعمالهم على الثقافة والسياسة الأمريكية في حقبة ما بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية. تم نشر معظم أعمالهم وتعميمه خلال الخمسينات. العناصر المركزية في ثقافة بيت هي رفض القيم السردية التقليدية وخلق السؤال الروحي، واستكشاف الأديان الأمريكية والشرقية، ورفض المادية، والتصوير الواضح للحالة البشرية، والتجريب بعقاقير الهلوسة، والتحرر والاستكشاف الجنسيين.[1][2]

لفت هذا الجيل الاهتمام إليه بتعاطيه لموضوعات جديدة وغريبة إلى حد الاستهجان، تمحورت حول موسيقى الجاز والبلوز، والمخدرات من هيروين وأفيون، والتحرر الجنسي، والبوذية، ورفض الاقتصاد المادي، وإنكار التمجيد الذاتي، وفضح سياسات أمريكا العنصرية، والدفاع عن البيئة، ومناصرة حقوق الأقليات، إلخ. [3]
