بوينگ بي-17 فلاينگ فورترس Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress، هي قاذفة ثقيلة بأربع محركات طُورت في الثلاثينيات لصالح مشاة القوات الجوية الأمريكية. في منافسة مع دوگلاس ومارتن للتعاقعد على بناء 200 قاذفة، تفوقت بوينگ على منافسيها وتجاوزت توقعات مشاة القوات الجوية. بالرغم من خسارة بوينگ للعقد لتحطم النموذج الأولي، إلا أن مشاة القوات الجوية كانت منبهرة للغاية بتصميم بوينگ وقاموا بطلب 13 طائرة أخرى طراز بي-17 من أجل المزيد من التطوير. منذ انتاجها عام 1938، شهد تصميم بي-17 فلاينگ فورترس العديد من التقدمات.

The severely damaged B-17, "All-American" continues to fly after an attacking Bf 109 fighter collided with the aircraft. The B-17 flew home and landed in this condition without major injuries to any of the crew members.
