عبور جورج واشنطن لنهر الدلاوير، الذي حدث في ليلة 25–26 ديسمبر 1776، أثناء الحرب الثورية الأمريكية، كانت أول تحرك في هجوم مباغت نظمه جورج واشنطن ضد القوات الهسية في ترنتون، نيوجرزي، في صبيحة 26 ديسمبر. وقد خطط واشنطن للهجوم في سرية جزئية، فقاد قولاً من قوات الجيش القاري عبر نهر دلاوير المتجمد في عملية ذات تحدي تعبوي ومخاطر كبيرة. المعابر المخططة الأخرة لدعم العملية تم إلغاؤها أو لم تكن ذات أثر، إلا أن ذلك لم يمنع واشنطن من مفاجأة وهزيمة قوات يوهان رال المتمركزة في ترنتون. ثم عبر الجيش النهر مرة أخرى عائداً إلى پنسلڤانيا، ولكنه هذه المرة كان محملاً بالأسرى والغنائم من المعركة.

ثم عبر جيش واشنطن النهر لثالث مرة في نهاية العام، تحت ظروف أصبحت أكثر صعوبة بسبب عدم التأكد من سمك الجليد على سطح النهر. فألحقوا هزيمة بالتعزيزات البريطانية التي كان يقودها اللورد كورنوالس في ترنتون في 2 يناير 1777، ووهزموا حرس مؤخرته في پرنستون في 3 يناير، قبل التراجع إلى معقله الشتوي في موريستاون، نيوجرزي.
التجمعان غير المشهرين واشنطن كروسنگ، پنسلڤانيا و واشنطن كروسنگ، نيوجرزي، أخذا اسميهما تكريماً لهذا الحدث.
