النزاع الكردي السوري-الإسلامي، هو مسرح رئيسي في الحرب الأهلية السورية، وقد بدأ اندلاع القتال بين وحدات حماية الشعب الكردية والفصائل الإسلامية في مدينة رأس العين. شنت القوات الكردية حملة في محاولة للسيطرة على المناطق الخاضعة لسيطرة الإسلاميين في محافظة الحسكة وبعض أجزاء محافظتي حلب والرقة. وكان هدف الأكراد أيضًا تعزيز استقلالية وحرية منطقة روج آفا.[58]
