ناثان بيرنباوم Nathan Birnbaum (بالعبرية: נתן בירנבוים‎; pseudonyms: "Mathias Acher", "Dr. N. Birner", "Mathias Palme", "Anton Skart", "Theodor Schwarz", and "Pantarhei") (و. 16 مايو 1864 - ت. 2 ابريل 1937) هو كاتب، صحفي نمساوي، وفيلسوف يهودي صاغ تعبير الصهيونية في 1 أبريل 1890.

اشتق المفكر اليهودي ناثان بيرنباوم لفظة (الصهيونية Zionism) بمدلولها السياسي الحديث قبل أكثر من قرن في مقالته الصادرة باللغة الألمانية «التحرر الذاتي Selbstmanzipation» التي نشرها في العام 1890. وقبيل انعقاد مؤتمر بال عام 1897 وذلك لتمييز هذه الحركة التي كانت في طور التكون (دعوة القومية اليهودية) من النشاط الذي مارسته جماعة أخرى أطلقت على نفسها اسم «أحباء صهيون Hibbat Zion» منذ مطلع الثمانينات في القرن التاسع عشر.[1]
