وليام هنري تمپل گيردنر

وليام هنري تمپل گيردنر William Henry Temple Gairdner ‏(31 يوليو 1873 - 22 مايو 1928) كان مبشراً مسيحيا بريطانياً في جمعية إرسالية الكنيسة Church Missionary Society في القاهرة، مصر. أمضى حياته كلها في مصر. عمل، في مصر مع زميله دوگلاس ثورنتون، على التبشير بالمسيحية بين المسلمين المثقفين. الثنائي الديناميكي عقدا الكثير من المحاضرات في بيتهما، "بيت عرابي باشا"، وأصدرا مجلة أسبوعية اسمها "Orient and Occident" (الشرق والغرب). وبعد وفاة ثورنتون في 1907، واصل گيردنر العمل في القاهرة، ولكن بوهن، حتى وفاته في 1928.

ولد لأب اسكتلندي وأم إنگليزية، وتخرج من جامعة أكسفورد في أكتوبر 1892.

كان ضليعاً في الكتابة والحديث باللغة العربية. كما كان فقيها في الشريعة الإسلامية، إلا أنه آثر أن يستخدم ذلك في التبشير بالمسيحية.
