هاري هوديني Harry Houdini (و. إريك ڤايز في بوداپشت، فيما بعد إريخ ڤايس أو هاري ڤايس؛ 24 مارس 1874 – 31 أكتوبر 1926)، هو ساحر ومؤدي حيل أمريكي، اكتسب شهرة عالمية، كفنان له القدرة على الهروب من المآزق الخطرة والنجاة من الموت. فقد استطاع هوديني أن يخلص نفسه بسرعة من وسائل تبدو أنها تحصنه ضد الهرب أو التحرر منها وتضم القيود والأغلال التي تربط إلى ساق السجين وعشرة أزواج من الكلبشات (قيود الأيدي) وزنزانات السجون والصناديق محكمة الغلق بالمسامير.

كانت لعبته التي تتعلق بها أنفاس المشاهدين، خروجه سليمًا من خزان محكم الغلق لا ينفذ منه أو إليه الهواء وقد امتلأ بالماء تمامًا. أدى هوديني أعمالاً إعلامية مذهلة ليثير اهتمام الجماهير. فمثلاً سمح لهم بأن يقيدوه داخل سترة المساجين أو المجانين التي تعوق حركتهم ويعلِّقوه من رجليه ورأسه إلى أسفل، مدلى من مبنى مرتفع، وفي دقائق قليلة أمكنه أن يخلص نفسه ويصبح طليقًا. وأصبح هوديني معروفًا بنقده الوسطاء الروحيين الذين يزعمون أن في استطاعتهم الاتصال بأرواح الموتى. وكان يعتقد أن الوسطاء يخدعون الجمهور، وكان يعيد عرض أعمالهم محاولاً أن يبين أنهم كانوا دجالين مخادعين. وأصبح هوديني نجمًا في عدة أفلام.[1]

بدأ هوديني مهنته بأداء حيل أوراق اللعب (الكوتشينة) في متحف. وفي عام 1900، بعد أن طور أعمال هروبه من المآزق، أصبح نجمًا يقدم عروضًا في كثير من مسارح القمة في جميع أرجاء العالم. وكان العرض الذي يقدمه هوديني يصور حيلاً سحرية ووضعًا وشروحًا لما كان يعد خداعًا روحيًا.

وًلد هوديني في بوداپشت، النمسا-المجر. وانتقلت أسرته إلى أبلتن بولاية وسكنسن، بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وذلك عندما كان طفلاً، ثم زعم هوديني بعد ذلك أنه ولد في أبلتن. وكان اسمه الحقيقي إيريك وايس.

وأخذ اسمه المسرحي من جين يوجين روبرت هودين الذي كان ساحرًا فرنسيًا مشهورًا في السنوات القريبة من القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي. وبعد ذلك جعل من هذا الاسم اسمًا شرعيًا له.
