تاريخ

تأسس عام 1899. بسبب المشاكل الاقتصادية التي كانت موجودة في النادي، هبط نادي مارسيليا إلى دوري الدرجة الثانية عام 1994، ولكنه استطاع وبقوة بالرجوع إلى الدرجة الأولى عام 1996. ومنذ عام 2000 حتى الآن يعتبر النادي من أقوى أندية كرة القدم في فرنسا.

استطاع مارسيليا الوصول إلى نهائي كأس الاتحاد الأوروبي عام 2004، حين هزم أندية قوية مثل إنتر ميلان الإيطالي، ونادي ليفربول ونادي نيوكاسل يونايتد الإنجليزيين في طريقه إلى المباراة النهائية. ومؤخراً استطاع نادي مارسيليا عام 2005 بالفوز بكأس إنترتوتو.

و لعب لنادي مارسيليا العديد من النجوم مثل جارزينيو و إريك كانتونا و مارسيل ديساييه.
