مطاردة الساحرات

مطاردة الساحرات witch-hunt هي عملية بحث واضطهاد الأشخاص الذين يشتبه بكونهم يمارسون السحر أو الشعوذة من قبل الكنيسة الكاثوليكية بداية ثم البروتستانتية متحدتين في السلطة المؤقتة، وغالبا ما انطوت على ذعر أخلاقي وهستيريا جماعية وحتى إعدامات بدون محاكمة، والمحاكمات لم تكن سوى مهزلة، مغطاة بمظهر الاستجواب وفي الواقع كانت في اتجاه واحد.[1] or mass hysteria.[2]
