ست درجات من التباعد
الدرجات الست من التباعد هي النظرية القائلة بأن أي شخص على وجه الأرض يكون ذو علاقة مع أي إنسان آخر على سطح الأرض من خلال سلسلة من الأشخاص لا يزيد عددهم عن 5. فالإنسان بطبيعته يكون مجموعة من العلاقات مع أشخاص آخرين وأولئك الأشخاص يكونون علاقات أخرى الأمر الذي يؤدي لتكون شبكة من العلاقات تشمل -حسب قول النظرية- جميع من على سطح المعمورة. أول من تحدث عن هذه النظرية هو الكاتب المجري فريگيس كارنثي عام 1929م. وتمّ ترويجها من خلال مسرحية كان قد كتبها جون جويير.
هذا حالة خاصة من هذا العالم الصغير، والتي تقول ان هنالك خمس اشخاص يصلون معرفة شخصين ببعض.
تقلّص العالم
كانت قد بدأت النظريات حول التصميم الأمثل للمدن، وتدفقات حركة المرور في المدن، الأحياء والتركيبة السكانية في رواج بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى. وهذه التخمينات توسعت في عام 1992 من قبل الكاتب المجري كارينثي فيريغيس، الذي نشرَ مجموعة من القصص بعنوان كل شيء مختلف (المجرية: Minden máskép van)، إحدى هذه القطع كان بعنوان سلاسل (المجرية: Láncszemek).
في الخلاصة لقد حققت هذه القصة تعابير تصورية وخيالية للعديد من المشاكل التي من شأنها أن تأسر أجيال المستقبل من علماء الرياضيات، علماء الاجتماع، وعلماء الفيزياء في مجال نظرية الشبكات. [1] [2]
بسبب التقدم التكنولوجي في مجال الاتصالات والسفر، يمكن لشبكات الصداقة أن تنمو بشكل أكبر وتمتد لمسافات أكبر. اعتقد كارينثي بأن العالم الحديث كان قد بدأ يتقلّص نظراً لهذا الترابط المتزايد مابين البشر. لقد افترض بأنه على الرغم من المسافات المادية الواسعة ما بين الأفراد حول العالم، إلا أن الكثافة المتزايدة للشبكات البشرية قد جعلت المسافات الاجتماعية الحقيقة أقل بكثير.
كنتيجة لفرضية كارينثي، فإن شخصيات القصة كانت تعتقد أنه بإمكان أي شخصين أن يكونا متصلان من خلال خمسة معارف على الأكثر. هذه الفكرة أثرت سواء بشكل مباشر وغير مباشر على ظهور الفكرة الأولية عن الشبكات الاجتماعية. وقد اعتُبر كارينثي المُنشئ لفكرة ست درجات من الانفصال.
هناك نظرية قريبة لكنها تصف نوعية الاتصالات بدلاً من وجودها. نظرية ثلاث درجات من التأثير وقد تمّ إنشاؤها من قبل نيكولاس كريستاكيس و جيمس فولر.
العالم الصغير
أجرى مايكل جوريفيتش عملا مؤثرا في دراسته التجريبية على بنية الشبكات الاجتماعية في معهد مساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا عام 1961 حيث نشر أطروحة دكتوراة بعنوان Ithiel de Sola Pool. [3]
عالم الرياضيات النمساوي مانفريد كوشين -من الذين شاركوا في التصميم الحضري- كان قد استقرأ هذه النتائج التجريبية في مخطوطة رياضية تحت عنوان الاتصالات والتأثيرات إنگليزية: Contacts and Influences، [4] الخلاصة أن الكثافة السكانية في الولايات المتحدة من دون البنية الاجتماعية، "من المؤكد عملياً أن أي اثنين يمكن أن يتصلا مع بعضهم البعض عن طريق اثنين من الوسطاء على الأكثر. بينما في بنية سكانية اجتماعية منظمة فإنها أقل احتمالاً إلا أنها لا تزال تبدو مرجحة. وربما من أجل سكان العالم بأسره، فمن المحتمل بأن شخص وسيط واحد يجب لزومه ".
المحاكاة -التي نُفذّت على أجهزة حواسيب محدودة نسبياً عام 1973- كانت مع هذا قادرة على التنبؤ بأن وجود ثلاث درجات من الانفصال عبر سكان الولايات المتحدة هو أكثر واقعية، مما يُنذر بنتائج عالم النفس الأمريكي ستانلي ميلگرام.

تجربة ميلغرام
" ست درجات انفصال" اكتشفت من جديد في عام 1967 بشكل مستقل على يد ستانلي ميلگرام، أستاذ بجامعة هارڤرد في علم النفس الاجتماعي المشهور بتجربته المتعلقة بالانصياع للسلطة. سعى ميلگرام إلى تحديد عدد الأشخاص الذين كنت بحاجة إليهم، للإيجاد صلة بين أي شخصين في الولايات المتحدة. لمعرفة ذلك كان عليه إجراء ما يلي: أولاً تحديد عضوين من الهدف الواحد من مدينة شارون، مساتشوستس، وفي بوسطن. وتتمثل الخطوة التالية بإرسال 160 حزمة عشوائية إلى ويتشيتا، كانزس وأوماها، طلب منهم المشاركة في البحث. وتشمل ألحزمه موجز للبحث، معلومات حول الوجهة وبطاقات بريدية والتعليمات.
التعليمات بان يرسل الشخص الذي استقبل ألرزمه بطاقة بريدية للمتابعة والتعقب لهاروارد، ومحاولة نقل الحزمة إلى الوجهة على النحو التالي: إذا كان الشخص قد تلقى البطاقه البريدية على معرفة بالرجل شخصيا، عليه إرسال الحزمة مباشرة. وإلا، فإنه ينبغي إرسال الحزمة إلى شخص لديه معرفة شخصية مع الهدف. وكان أغلب الضن ان التجربة ستحتاج أكثر من 100 وسيط لتصل الهدف. بمعنى تشكيك بنجاح التجربة، فيكفي شخص واحد فقط ان لا يشارك في العمل على كسر السلسلة. تفاجأ ميلگرام كثيرا عندما وصلة أول بطاقة في غضون أيام قليلة ,إلى مقصدها، وانتقلت عن طريق شخصين فقط. في نهاية المطاف توصل ميلگرام إلى 42 بطاقة تصل لهدفهن. وجد ميلگرام أن هناك حاجة إلى متوسط عدد الوسطاء لنقل الحزم للهدف هو 5.5، بالتقريب إلى-"ست درجات انفصال".
من الأخصائي الاجتماعي توماس بلاس الذينبحث في تجربة ميلگرام، وجد أن ميلگرام نفسه لم يستخدم مصطلح "ست درجات انفصال". يرجع تاريخ هذا المصطلح إلى مسرحية ذات شعبية كبيرة "ست درجات من فصل" لجون جويير حتى ان هنالك نسخته سينمائية للمسرحية الشعبية هذه كما يظهر في المسلسل التلفزيوني الأمريكي ست درجات (Six Degrees)،الذي يعرض اللقاء بين ستة أغراب في نيويورك
استمرار البحث: مشروع العالم الصغير
عام 2003، في جامعة كولومبيا أُجري أول تكرار لتجربة ميلگرام على نطاق واسع في بيئة حديثة مبنية على شبكة الانترنت. دُعيت جهودهم باسم مشروع العالم الصغير تضمّنَ 24.163 سلسلة بريدية الكترونية موجّهة إلى 18 هدف من 13 بلد مختلف حول العالم. [5]
تقريباً 100.00 شخص كانوا قد سجّلوا أسماءهم، ولكن 384 فقط (%3) وصلت إلى الهدف النهائي.
البحث
العديد من الدراسات، مثل تجربة ميلغرام العالم الصغير، تمَّ إجراؤها لقياس هذا الترابط تجريبياً. مصطلح "ست درجات من الانفصال" كثيراً ما استُخدم كمرادف لفكرة ظاهرة "العالم الصغير". [6]
مع ذلك، فإن الناقدين جادلوا بأن تجربة ميلگرام لم تقم بإثبات وجود مثل هذا الترابط، [7] و إدّعاء "الست درجات" تم شجبه كـ "خرافة حضرية أكاديمية". [8]
أيضاً وجود مجموعات معزولة من البشر، كمجموعة كوروبو إنگليزية: Korubo وغيرهم من السكان البرازيلين الأصليين، [9] من شأنه أن يُبطل أدق تفسير لهذه الفرضية.
شبكات الحواسيب
عام 2001، حاول دنكان واتس Duncan Watts ، أستاذ في جامعة كولومبيا، إعادة تجربة ميلگرام على شبكة الإنترنت، وذلك بإٍستخدام رسالة بريدية الكترونية كـ "رزمة" يجب أن يتمّ تسليمها، بواسطة 48.000 مرسل و19 هدف في 157 بلد. وجدَ واتس أن المتوسط (وليس الحد الأقصى) لعدد الوسطاء كان بحوالي الستة.
دراسة اُجريت عام 2007 من قبل جور ليسكوفك Jure Leskovec و إريك هورفيتز Eric Horvitz اختبرت مجموعة من البيانات من الرسائل الفورية مؤلفة من 30 بليون محادثة بين 240 مليون شخص. وجدوا أن متوسط طول المسار مابين مستخدمي مايكروسوفت مسنجر إنگليزية: Microsoft Messenger هو 6,6 .

الترويج
لم يعد مفهوم "الست درجات" يقتصر على الفكرى الأكاديمي أو الفلسفي، ففي الآونة الأخيرة قد أثرَّ في كافة أنحاء الثقافة الشعبية. محققة مزيداً من التقدم في تكنولوجيا الاتصالات -وبخاصة الانترنت- فإنها قد وجّهت اهتماماً كبيراً للشبكات الاجتماعية والترابط البشري.

- مسرحية جون جويير "ست درجات من الانفصال"
جون جويير كاتب مسرحي أمريكي الجنسية، عام 1990 كتب مسرحية بعنوان "ست درجات من الانفصال" والتي تمّ انتاجها في وقت لاحق كفيلم عام 1993 الذي شاع ذكره، وهي من أكثر أعمال جويير انتشاراً حول العالم.
- لعبة كيفين بيكون
لعبة "ست درجات من كيفين بيكون" [11] التي تمّ اختراعها بناء على مفهوم: الهدف هو ربط أي ممثل لـ كيفين بيكون Kevin Bacon من خلال ما لا يزيد عن ستة وصلات، بحيث يتم ربط ممثلين مع بعضهما إذا كانا قد ظهرا في فيلم أو إعلان معاً.
تمّ إنشاؤها من قبل أربعة طلاب في كلية أولبرايت إنگليزية: Albright College في ولاية بنسلفانيا. [12]

الأفلام
- The Oscar-winning film Babel is based on the concept of six degrees of separation. The lives of all of the characters were intimately intertwined, although they did not know each other and lived thousands of miles from each other.
- Six Degrees of Separation is a 1993 drama film adaptation of John Guare's titular play, featuring Will Smith, Donald Sutherland, and Stockard Channing.
الألعاب
- One of the achievements in the video game Brütal Legend is called "Six Degrees of Schafer", after the concept and Tim Schafer, who was presumably in the handful of players to have the achievement as of the game's release. A player can only obtain this achievement by playing online with someone who already has it, further paralleling it to the concept.

- Joined-Up Thinking and Connectoscope by Stevyn Colgan are trivia books based upon the idea of "Six Degrees" of information; that everything is connected.

- The No Doubt song "Full Circle" has a central theme dealing with six degrees of separation.
- The "Weird Al" Yankovic song "Lame Claim to Fame" has the lines: "I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy/Who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows Kevin Bacon"
- "Six Degrees of Separation" is the 10th track on the second disc The Heart of the 2016 double album The Weight of These Wings by American country artist Miranda Lambert. It is the 22nd track overall.
- "Six Degrees of Separation" is the 2nd track on The Script's third album, #3.
- "Six Degrees" is the sixth track on Scouting for Girls' album, The Light Between Us.
- Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is a 2002 album by progressive metal band Dream Theater.
- English progressive rock band Arena released an album titled 'The Seventh Degree of Separation' in 2011.
- "No Degree of Separation", the Italian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, is inspired by the concept. According to the artist and co-writer, Francesca Michielin, the song affirms that "despite all of the cultural differences [in the world], there shouldn't be distances between people".[13]
- The line "One degree of separation" is featured in the track Taste, from Sabrina Carpenter's 2024 album Short n' Sweet.

- Six Degrees is a 2006 television series on ABC in the US. The show details the experiences of six New Yorkers who go about their lives without realizing they are affecting each other, and gradually meet one another.[14]
- Lonely Planet Six Degrees is a TV travel show that uses the "six degrees of separation" concept: The hosts, Asha Gill and Toby Amies, explore various cities through its people, by following certain personalities of the city around and being introduced by them to other personalities.
- The Woestijnvis production Man Bijt Hond, broadcast on Flemish TV, features a weekly section Dossier Costers, in which a worldwide event from the past week is linked to Gustaaf Costers, an ordinary Flemish citizen, in six steps.[15]
- Six Degrees of Martina McBride is a television pilot wherein six aspiring country singers from America's smallest towns tried to connect themselves to Martina McBride in under six points of human connection. Those who made it from "Nowhere to Nashville to New York," got both a shot at a studio session with McBride and a record deal with SONY BMG. It was not picked up as a series.
- "Six Degrees of Separation" is an episode of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series.
- Six Degrees of Everything is a comedy series starring Benny Fine and Rafi Fine, in which they illustrate that everything in the world is connected by a six-degree separation.[16]
- Jorden runt på 6 steg is a seven-episode infotainment game show produced by Nexiko Media which aired on Swedish Kanal 5 in 2015. In each episode, hosts Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson selected one random elderly person (in Bolivia, Nepal, Senegal, Namibia, Mongolia, Madagascar, and Vietnam) and traced their relationships to different celebrities, including Gordon Ramsay and Buzz Aldrin, with the goal of doing so in six or fewer degrees of separation, within a time limit of one week.
