حياته

نجا نيكولاي من طفولة متأزمة خلالها عال نفسه كعازف بيانو ودرس في برلين وكون دائرة اتصالات قيمة. مهنته الاولى تراوحت بين ايطاليا حيث حققت له الأوبرات على الطراز الإيطالي Enrico II وIl templario نجاحا بين عشية وضحاها وفي فيينا حيث استقر اخر الامر بعد الهروب من خطوبة فسخها في ايطاليا. جنى الاحترام كمايسترو مجدد في الحفلات الفيلهارمونية لفيينا وكمؤلف اوبرا ماهر وان كان ديني حيث تأثر بوضوح ببلليني وفبر واخرين. لكنه وجد صوتا مميزا في تحفته الكوميدية The Merry Wives of Windsor، وهي اسلوب جديد من الاوبرا في المانيا التي عرضت اول مرة وسط استقبال هادئ قبل شهرين من وفاته قبل الاوان.
