  1. ^ In a Premiere interview in 2001, Witherspoon states her acting influences: "Holly Hunter, Meryl Streep, Frances McDormand, Susan Sarandon -- these are the women I want to emulate. I avoided the whole teen-movie thing, because I want to be in this business for more than two years, and I made conscious decisions not to do exploitative things, because they didn't feel right to me."
