جورج بوش (دارس كتابي)

جورج بوش George Bush (12 يونيو 1796، نورويتش، ڤرمونت – 19 سبتمبر 1859، روشستر، نيويورك)، هو دارس كتابي، قس، إلغائي، أكاديمي أمريكي ومنادي بعودة اليهود إلى الأراضي المقدسة. وهو بعيد الصلة عن عائلة بوش السياسية.^[1]

حياته

تخرج من كلية دارتموث عام 1818، ودرس بعدها اللاهوت في جامعة پرنستون، حيث كان مدرساً من 1823-1824. رُسم في الكهنوت المشيخي، وقضى أربع سنوات كمبشر مسيحي في إنديانا، وعام 1831 أصبح أستاذاً للعبرية والأدب الشرقي في جامعة نيويورك.^[2]

أول كتبه حياة محمد كان أول سيرة أمريكية مكتوبة لزعيم ديني. يشير الكتاب إلى محمد على أنه "هذا الرجل الرائع" و"شديد الجاذبية"، لكنه يتخذ موقفاً سلبياً بشكل كبير تجاهه. ويتبنى النظرة السوداوية للدولة لحالة المسيحية في عهد محمد. The book fell out of print، لكنه أصبح مثاراً للجدل لفترة وجيزة في مصر عام 2004.^[3]

عام 1844 نشر بوش كتاب بعنوان وادي الرؤية؛ أو، عظام إسرائيل الجافة عادت للحياة. خلال الكتاب يستنكر بوش "الاستعباد والقمع الذي طالما ألقى بهم (اليهود) إلى التراب"، ودعا إلى "رفع شأن" اليهود إلى درجة من السمعة المشرفة بين الأمم على وجه الأرض" بإعادة اليهود إلى أرض إسرائيل حيث سيتم تحويل الجزء الأكبر للمسيحية.^[4] هذا، حسب بوش، سيعود بالفائدة ليس على اليهود فقط، لكن على البشرية جمعاء، مشكلاً "حلقة وصل" بين الإنسانية والرب. “It will blaze in notoriety....It will flash a splendid demonstration upon all kindreds and tongues of the truth.”^[5]

أيضاً عام 1844، نشر مجلة شهرية تسمى Hierophant، مخصصة لاستجلاء النبوءات الكتابية، وأصدر في نيويورك، عمل بعنوان Anastasis، عارض فيه عقيدة القيامة العرفية للجسم. الهجمات على هذا العمل، جذب الكثير من الانتباه، ورد بوش من خلال قيامة التمسيح.^[2]

عام 1845 اعتنق السودينبورگية وكتب الكثير من الدفاعات عن عقيدته الجديدة.^[6] ترجم ونشر عن إمانويل سويدنبورگ]] عام 1845، وأصبح رئيس تحرير مستودع الكنيسة الجديدة.^[2]
