تأسست جامعة الصومال في 2005 على يد مجموعة من الدارسين المستقلين.[1] ومقرها الرئيسي في وسط مقديشو، ولها فرع في الشا بياها.[2]
As of 2014, the university provides higher instruction to a student body of 6,000 pupils.[1] وهي هيئة تعليمية مختلطة الجنسين.[2]
