أنتارس Antares، اشتهر في مراحل تطويره المبكرة باسم توروس 2، هو نظام اطلاق متعددة المراحل طورتها مؤسسة اوربيتال ساينسز.تم تصميمه لإطلاق حمولة تزيد عن 5,000 kg (11,000 lb) إلى المدار المنخفض للأرض، قام برحلته التجريبية في 21 أبريل 2013.[3] صُمم الصاروخ لإطلاق مركبة الفضاء سيگنوس إلى محطة الفضاء الدولية كجزء من برامج ناسا لخدمات الإمداد التجارية، أنتارس هو أكبر صاروخ تشغله اوربيتال ساينسز.

منحت ناسا اتفاقية قانون الفضاء لخدمات النقل المداري التجارية في 2008 لتوصيل شحنات إلى محطة الفضاء الدورية. لهذا الغرض تعتزم خدمات النقل المداري التجارية استخدام أنتارس لإطلاق سفينتها الفضائية سيگنس. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، سيتنافس أنتارس على المهمات الصغيرة إلى المتوسطة.[4] في 12 ديسمبر 2011، أعادت اوربيتال ساينس تسمية مركبة الاطلاق "توروس 2" إلى أنتارس على اسم نجم يحمل نفس الاسم.[5]

قام أنتارس بأربع اطلاقات ناجحة إلى المدار ضمن أول خمس محاولات. في 28 أكتوبر 2014، انفجر الصاروخ أنتارس قبل إقلاعه، ملحقاً دماراً كاملاً في المركبة وفي منصة الاطلاق 0 داخل ميناء وسط الأطلسي الاقليمي الفضائي.[6]

حوادث

في 28 أكتوبر 2014، انفجر الصاروخ أنتارس في مهمة اعادة امداد غير مأهولة حاملاً مركبة الفضاء سيگنس اورب-3 قبل ثواني من اطلاق.[21] فُقدت الشحنة ووقعت أضرار بالغة في منصة الاطلاق، لكن لم يرد أنباء عن سقوط ضحايا.[22] شكلت اوربيتال ساينسز فريق تحقيق بعد فترة وجيزة من فشل الاطلاق للتحقيق حول أسباب الحادث.[25]
