النوستالجيا Nostalgia، هي الحنين إلى الماضي، وعادة للفترة أو المكان الذي يرتبط بالذكريات الشخصية السعيدة. كلمة نساتلوجيا مشتقة من كلمتين يونانييتين، νόστοςcode: grc is deprecated (نستوس)، وتعني "العودة للوطن"، كلمة هومرية، وἄλγοςcode: grc is deprecated (ألجوس)، وتعني "الألم"، وصيغ المصطلح من قبل طالب طب من القرن السابع عشر لوصف مشاعر القلق التي يعاني منها المرتزقة السويسريين أثناء قتالهم بعيداً عن الوطن. بوصفها حالة طبية- أحد أشكال الاكتئاب - في أوائل الفترة الحديثة المبكرة، أصبح المصطلح تعبيراً مجازياً في الفترة الرومانسية.

Nostalgia in its most common form was responsible for the old front desk of The Beverly Hills Hotel (from 1942 to 1979) being made into a bar.
