دافني وكلوى (باليونانية: Δάφνις καὶ Χλόη؛ Daphnis kai Chloē؛ إنگليزية: Daphnis and Chloe) هي أشهر قصص الحب جميعها في النثر القديم قصة دافنيس وكلوي Daphnis and Chloe. ولسنا نعرف عن مؤلفها إلا اسمه لونگوس Longus، كما أننا نظن مجرد ظن أنها ألقت في القرن الثالث بعد الميلاد. وتقول إن دافني تعرض لتقلبات الجو القاسية وقت مولده، وإن راعياً أنقذه وعنى بتربيته وإنه أصبح هو الآخر راعياً. وفي القصة فقرات رائعة في وصف الريف توحي بأن لونجس كشف ما فيه من جمال بعد طول مقامه في المدينة، كما كشفه الشاعر ثيوكريتس الذي نسج هو على منواله. ويحب دفنيس فتاة حسناء أنقذت هي الأخرى بعد أن عرضت للجو القاسي في طفولتها. ويرعى الفتى والفتاة قطعانهما وتتوثق بينهما عرى الصداقة والألفة، ويستحمّان معاً وهما عريانين في طهر وبراءة، ويقبل كلهما الآخر أول قبلة يسكران منها. ويشرح لهما جارسنج نشوة حبهما، ويصف لهما ما لاقاه في أيام شبابه من آلام العشق فيقول: "لم أكن أفكر في طعامي، ولم أكن أذوق طعم الراحة، وهجر الكرا عيني، وأمضني الحزن، وأسرعت ضربات قلبي، وأحست أطرافي ببرودة الموتى(28). ويعرفهما أبواهما، وكان وقتئذ من أغنياء الناس، ويهبانهما الكثير من المال، ولكنهما لا يعبآن بالثراء، ويعودان إلى حياة الرعي المتواضعة. والقصة مكتوبة ببساطة الفن الجميل المصقول وقد ترجمها أميو Amyot إلى اللغة الفرنسية السلسلة المطواعة (1559) فكانت هذه الترجمة هي المثال الذي احتذاه سان پيير في پول وڤرجينيا كما أوحت بما لا يحصى من الرسوم والقصائد والقطع الموسيقية.

The work was adapted into a 45-minute radio play by Hattie Naylor, first broadcast at 14:15 on Friday 3 March 2006. This broadcast was repeated as the Afternoon Play 14:15 on Wednesday 27 June 2007 and made available for streaming download for 7 days on the BBC Radio Four Afternoon Play webpage.

It was played for comedy, with the sexual encounters preceded by 'I must speak in Latin!' and each dream-sleep preceded by a sudden comic thud. The cast were:
