أمريكان صوماليون
الأمريكان الصوماليون Somali Americans هم أمريكان من أصل صومالي. أول مهاجرين من العرق الصومالي وصلوا أمريكا كانوا بحارة جاؤوا في ع1920. ثم تبعهم طلبة جاؤوا لتحصيل العلم في ع1960 و ع1970، وقليل من المهاجرين بعد ذلك. إلا أن عددهم شهد زيادة كبيرة في ع1990 حين اندلعت الحرب الأهلية في الصومال. المجتمع الصومالي في الولايات المتحدة هو من أكبر جاليات الشتات الصومالي.

ولاية مينسوتا تضم حالياً 25,000 لاجئ صومالي معظمهم متجنس بالجنسية الأمريكية. وهي بذلك أكبر جالية صومالية في أمريكا، من إجمالي 86,000 أمريكي صومالي. والشعب الصومالي عموماً أصبح محافظاً بعد 40 سنة من بدء الحرب الأهلية التي لم تنته بعد، وقلما توجد إمرأة سافرة الشعر. قارني ذلك بعارضة الأزياء الصومالية العالمية "إيمان" أو "آيان حرصي علي" المثيرة للغط.

Current estimates of the number of Somali immigrants living in the United States vary widely, ranging from 35,760 to 150,000 persons.[3] 2010 American Community Survey data indicates that there are approximately 85,700 people with Somali ancestry in the US. Of those, around 25,000 or one third live in Minnesota;[1] 21,000 of the latter were born in Somalia.[4] Nationwide, 76,205 were Somalia-born.[2] According to the Arab American Institute, Somalis are among the larger Arab American populations in the country.[5]
