تشارون (قمر)
تشارون Charon أو شارون هو القمر الوحيد (حاليا) للكوكب التاسع بلوتو اكتشفه العالم الامريكي جيمس كريستي العامل في مرصد البحريةالأمريكية سنة 1978م وأطلق عليه فيما بعد charon .

الخصائص الفيزيائية
هو تابع طبيعي كبير قياسا بحجم كوكبه فيقدر حجمه بنحو نصف حجم الكوكب الأم ويبلغ قطره نحو 1,200 كيلو متر.
مداره
يدور تشاورن حول بلوتو على مسافة قريبة يبلغ معدلها نحو 19,600 كيلو متر وتستغرق دورته المدارية نحو ستة ايام وتسع ساعات وسبع عشرة دقيقة وهى دورة تساوي دورة بلوتو المحورية.
مكوناته
يتالف هذا القمر بصورة رئيسية من صخور مختلطة بجليد كما هو حال الكوكب الام بلوتو.
