اوتو يان

اوتو يان Otto Jahn (و. 16 يونيو 1813، كيل - ت. 9 سبتمبر 1869، گوتنگن)، كان عالم آثار ألماني، ولغوي، وكاتب عن الفن والموسيقى.

بعد الانتهاء من دراسته الجامعية في جامعة كريستيان ألبريخت في كيل، وجامعة لايپتسگ وجامعة هومبولت في برلين، سافر ثلاث سنوات إلى فرنسا وإيطاليا. وفي روما تأثر كثيرا بأعمال اوگست إميل براون(1809-1856). وفي عام 1839 أصبح أستاذا في كيل، وفي عام 1842،أصبح أستاذ فوق العادة في علم الآثار. وفقه اللغة في جامعة گرايسڤالد (أستاذ عادي في عام 1845).

في عام 1847، قبل رئاسة علم الآثار في جامعة لايپتسگ، مع تيودور مومسن(1817-1903) وموريتز هوپت (1808-1874)، وطرد من الجامعة في عام 1851 لاشتراكه في الحركات السياسية 1848-1849. في عام 1855 تم تعيينه أستاذا لعلم العصور القديمة، ومدير متحف الفن الأكاديمي في بون، وعام 1865 تم استدعاؤه لخلافة إدوارد گرهارد (1795-1867) في برلين.

ظهر كتاب السيرة الذاتية عن ڤولفگانگ أماديوس موتسارت الذي ألفه اوتو يان في عام 1856، في الذكرى المئوية لمولد موتسارت.

The work is admired for its scholarly approach (at the time, novel in Mozart biography), and in versions revised by Hermann Abert and Cliff Eisen, continues in use today.

Among Jahn's notable students was the classical archaeologist and philologist Hugo Blümner.
