المدن الوحيدة في أفغانستان بتعداد يزيد عن 1 مليون نسمة هم عاصمة البلد، كابول، ومدينة قندهار. بقية بلديات أفغانستان هن مدن وبلدات أصغر. Afghanistan's total population is estimated to be between 36–50 million individuals.[أ] Of this, 26% were reported to be living in urban areas and the rest in rural areas or the countryside.[2]
