عمالقة النفط

عمالقة النفط Big Oil، هو اسم يستخدم لوصف أكبر سبع أو ثمان شركات نفط وغاز حكومية في العالم، وتعرف أيضاً بالعمالقة الكبار supermajors.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] وعمالقة النفط في العالم هي شركات ب پ، شڤرون، إكسون موبيل، رويال دتش شل، توتال، وإني، حيث توصف كوكو فيليپس أحياناً ضمن المجموعة.^[1]^[2]

التاريخ

يرجع تاريخ عمالقة النفط إلى "الأشقاء السبع"، شركات النفط السبعة التي شكلت كارتل "كونسورتيوم إيران" وهيمنت على صناعة النفط العالمية من منتصف الأربعينيات حتى السبعينيات.^[12]^[13] والأشقاء السبع هي:

شركة النفط الأنگلو فارسية (ب پ حالياً؛
نفط الخليج، ستانرد أويل كاليفورنيا (سوكال) وتكساكو (شڤرون حالياً)؛
رويال دتش شل؛
ستانرد اويل نيوجرزي (إسو) وستاندرز اويل نيويرك (سوكوني) (إكسون موبيل حالياً.

قبل أزمة النفط 1973 سيطر أعضاء السبع الكبار على حوالي 85% من احتياطيات النفط في العالم.

بدأ عمالقة النفط في الظهور في أواخر التسعينيات، استجابة للانخفاض الحاد في أسعار النفط. بدأت شركات النفط الضخمة في الظهور، كمحاولة لتحسين المقياس الاقتصادي، التحوط من price volatility النفط، و تخفيض الاحتياطيات النقدية الضخمة عن طريق إعادة الاستثمار.^[14]

حدث بين عام 1998 و2002 عمليات اندماج واستحواذ الرئيسية التالية لشركات النفط والغاز:

اندماج إكسون مع موبيل عام 1999، لتأسيس إكسون موبيل؛
إندماج توتال مع پتروفينا عام 1999 ومع إلف أكويتين عام 2000، لتأسس شركة توتال؛
استحواذات ب پ على أموكو عام 1998 وعلى أركو عام 2000؛
استواذ شڤرون على تكسكو عام 2001؛

دمج كونوكو وشركة فيليپس للنفط عام 2002، لتأسيس كونوكو فيليپس.

خلفت عملية الاندماج هذه عدد من المؤسسات العاليمة الكبرى التي عرفها ترتيب [فوربس گلوبال 2000]]، وعام 2007 على أنها أكبر 25 شركة في العالم. بين 2004 و2007 وصل إجمالي أرباح الستة الكبار إلى 494.8 بليون دولار أمريكي.^[15]
