ريفامپيسين
ريفامپيسين Rifampicin أو ريفامبين (إسم أمريكى) هو INN مضاد قاتل للبكتيريا من مجموعة الريفاميسين rifamycin .[1] إنه مركب نصف مخلق مشتق منAmycolatopsis rifamycinica (كان يعرف سابقا ب Amycolatopsis mediterranei and Streptomyces mediterranei). ريفاميسين يختصر بR, RMP, RD, RA, or RIF (US). ويعرف أيضا rifaldazine , (فى كندا)أنواع عديدة من الريڤاميسين , بمجموعة 4-methyl-1-piperazinaminyl , هو أكثر الصور فعالية سريريا.

يستخدم ريفامبيسين نمطيا لعلاج Mycobacterium عدوى تشمل tuberculosis وleprosy; وله دور في علاج methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) مشتركا مع fusidic acid. يستعمل للوقاية ضد Neisseria meningitidis
يستعمل أيضا لعلاج عدوى Listeria species, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus influenzae و Legionella pneumophila. ولهذة الإستعمالات غير القياسية يجب إجراء مزارع تنمية لكشف الميكروب المستهدف .

التـأثيرات الجانبية
بإختصار فإن الآثار الجانبية تشمل:
- Hepatotoxic - Hepatitis, jaundice, liver failure in severe cases.
- Respiratory - breathlessness
- Cutaneous - flushing, pruritus, rash, redness and watering of eyes.
- Abdominal - nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps with or without diarrhea
- Flu-like symptoms - with chills, fever, headache, arthralgia and malaise
