الشفافية إنگليزية: transparencycode: en is deprecated أو إنگليزية: pelluciditycode: en is deprecated : في علم البصريات، هي خاصية فيزيائية المادة التي تسمح للضوء بالمرور خلالها. وفي علم المعادن يستخدم المصطلح إنگليزية: diaphaneitycode: en is deprecated . وعكس هذه الخاصية تسمى العتامة إنگليزية: opacitycode: en is deprecated . المواد الشفافة النقية، يمكن الرؤية من خلالها. المواد الشفيفة أو نصف الشفافة إنگليزية: Translucent materialscode: en is deprecated تسمح للضوء بالمرور من خلالها وتبدده، ولايمكن الرؤية من خلالها. لا تتضمن الشفوفية على الرؤية من خلال الأجسام الملونة مثل الزمرد في حالته المقطوعة (الذي يكون شفافًا) ولكن يتضمن الأجسام مثل الزجاج المصنفر الذي يسمح للضوء بالمرور لكن بدون صورة واضحة.
