Despite favorable reviews, the play only gets seven performances before being cancelled.
  • 25 فبراير - The opera seria Alessandro Severo by George Frideric Handel has its world premiere at London's Kings' Theatre . The title role is again sung by Caffarelli. The play flopped and only had six performances until May 30, after which it was no longer performed. Only the vocal and instrumental benefit concert on March 28th, which Handel organized for himself and which his friends and singers urgently wanted, was so crowded with almost 1,300 visitors that rows of seats and benches had to be placed on the stage, giving Handel ample income received to cover debt.
