علبة مثلية

العلبة المثلية homeobox هو تسلسل دنا موجود ضمن الجينات يشارك في تنظيم تنامي الحيوانات (التشكل الحيوي)، أيضا الفطريات و النباتات . المورثات أو الجينات التي تحوي علبة مثلية تدعى جينات العلبة المثلية homeobox genes وتشكل عائلة جينات علبة المثلية

Homeodomain
The Antennapedia homeodomain protein from Drosophila melanogaster bound to a fragment of DNA. The recognition helix and unstructured N-terminus are bound in the major and minor grooves respectively.

Drosophila with the antennapedia mutant phenotype exhibit homeotic transformation of the antennae into leg-like structures on the head.

اكتشفت بشكل مستقل في عام 1983 من قبل والتر گيرنگ وزملائه في جامعة بازل سويسرا، وأيضا ماثيو سكوت و امي فاينر اللذان كانا يعملان مع توماس كاوفمان في جامعة إنديانا.
